HOMEWORK: Is usually given each night and including weekends in order to reinforce topics discussed in class. Homework will be discussed and corrected during the following class period and checked periodically for a grade. Study your mistakes as well as the corrections. Concentrate on directions and try to understand details. Work extra problems when needed. Homework checks will be 10% of your quarter grade.

 

QUIZZES: Quizzes will cover a few concepts at a time. All quizzes will be averaged to count 25% of your quarter grade. All quizzes will be announced at least two days before they are given.

 

TESTS: A test will be given approximately every two to two and one-half weeks. The test average will count 65% of your quarter average. Test will be announced at least 3 days in advance. Students will not be tested on material where they have not had the opportunity to ask questions.

 

ABSENCES: When you are absent, you are responsible for the homework that you missed. If a student misses the day directly before a test and returns the next day, he or she is still responsible for taking the test the day of return. Tests are announced ahead of time to accommodate for this. Missed quizzes are made up at 8am the next day or a grade of ZERO may be given for the missed quiz.

 

PLEASE TAKE NOTE:  

If you are absent the day of a TEST, you are expected to make up the test the NEXT SCHOOL DAY (normally after school).

 

If you are absent the day of a QUIZ, you are expected to make up the quiz BEFORE SCHOOL on the next school day. A grade of ZERO MAY BE GIVEN if this procedure is not followed.

 

HELP SESSIONS: Extra help will be every Tuesday afternoon in room 157A. It is recommended that you tell me, if you are planning to attend. Any changes to this schedule due to meetings will be announced in class. I will try to be available at other times upon your request.

 

MATERIALS: The course text, a three ring binder notebook, a pencil/pen, a TI – 83 plus graphing calculator, and NOTE CARDS are required each day for class. All quizzes and tests are to be done only in pencil.
